Portable Prayer is a series of devices and places were one can stand, kneel, sit, lie prostrate, and pray.  It speaks to the omnipresence of prayer and of God.  It is about a relationship with God, full of joy, pain, whimsy, and intensity.     Portable Prayer perhaps best be described as “twenty-third century medieval”.  This aesthetic paradox creates visual tension and enables the work to transcend place and time.

This work represents a synthesis of visual ideas between my brother and myself.  It is a collaboration.  An experience that presents challenges to our methods of creating.  A process that we have found uniquely rich. The work is not mine or his, but ours.  In this struggle for plurality we find the work speaking more universally.
