When I was single, I had what felt like all the time in the world to work in the studio and explore. Looking back, much of that exploration centered on a desire for relationship and family—on longing, hope, and prayer.
I am now married with four children, and the work has shifted with my life. Rather than approaching relationship primarily from the perspective of the individual self, I find myself exploring it through intimacy, family, and community.
Family Virtues was created entirely on my iPhone. There is nothing particularly magical about the device itself; it is simply a tool whose size and accessibility allow me to work anytime and almost anywhere. With four children, that practicality matters. The iPhone became a way to continue making work within the rhythms of family life rather than apart from them.
